Black People For The Natural World (BPNW) is a community of Black people for Black people to grow in our understanding, connection, and commitment to the planet and to the entire cosmos as one thriving family.
By using a cultural lens that acknowledges the rich and complex lives of Black people from the first homo sapiens in Africa and the pyramids of the Nile Valley Civilization, where humans lived in harmony with nature and the heavens, to the construction of race and the cast system that put Black People at the bottom of humanity, to centuries of our resistance to efforts to dehumanize us, to the continued impact of race-based traumatic stress injuries today, our collective contribution to the imminent collapse of this civilization requires an approach that reflects our historical and spiritual reality.
Currently, we have been meeting as a virtual study group and doing speaking engagements. But we hope to expand our efforts and our reach to connect with like-minded Black people across the United States and around the world.
Fighting For Planet
If the current rate of deforestation continues, it will take less than 100 years to destroy all the rainforests on the earth.
